Expect all the magic as all of our farm dinners in 2018. Like those, this first Farm Dinner of 2019 will take place at a local farm with seasonal produce cooked up by local chefs and cooks. Local spirits, wine, craft beer, music, bread and other local artisans and partners will all come together with the community under a canopy of twinkling lights for a memorable evening you won't soon forget. This event is hosted by Edible Nashville, Music City's premiere local food magazine. Music, unlimited drinks, food, farming and kinship showcase this four hour event. Hope to see ya there! Things to Know:
  • Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? 21 is the minimum age to drink, but folks of all ages are welcome. A farm is a great place for kids to learn and roam around. Non alcoholic drinks are plentiful as well.
  • What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? You can Uber to the event, but depending on the event Lyft or Uber may not be options for return. This year, we are working on transportation options. Stay tuned.
  • What's the refund policy? Refunds are available for up to a week ahead of the event. The event will go on rain or shine. Grab your boots and a sweater and come out and commune with nature. It's part of the fun.
  • What do I wear? Every farm is different, but we are on a farm. As a rule, it's a good idea to wear sensible shoes, but also not required if you want to get gussied up. It is a beautiful setting and great photo opp.

Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville is hosting its annual World TaiChi & QiGong Day at the Dragon Park. Workshops and demonstrations will be presented. Wear your work-out outfits and prepare for a hands-on experience. What Is TaiChi? It is a low-impact gentle exercise that began as a martial art. TaiChi improves the flow of energy through the body, leading to greater awareness, calmness and an overall sense of wellness. It is also described as “Meditation in Motion.” What Is QiGong? Pronounced chee gong, QiGong is a practice that involves a series of postures and exercises including slow, circular movements, regulated breathing and focused meditation. Researchers have studied the benefits of these mind-body exercises as reported by Nell Porter Brown in his article, "Easing ills through TaiChi." "KATHERINE KERR has found an antidote for the hectic pace of laboratory life in the daily practice of TaiChi. This centuries-old Chinese mind-body exercise, now gaining popularity in the United States, consists of slow-flowing, choreographed meditative movements with poetic names like “wave hands like clouds,” “dragons stirring up the wind,” and “swallow skimming the pond” that evoke the natural world. It also focuses on basic components of overall fitness: muscle strength, flexibility, and balance. " April 27 is also the Music City Marathon Day, please anticipate some roads blocks and traffic. There are various forms and styles of TaiChi and QiGong. Presenters will lead step-by-step workshops and showcase different forms of TaiChi and QiGong. Practicing TaiChi/QiGong is a life-time journey. It is never too late to learn to practice TaiChi and QiGong. It is a gentle exercise, and a way to fitness, wellness, and health. Join the celebration! In case of rain, the event will be held  indoor (TBA). Chinese Arts Alliance of Nashville is a not for profit arts organization that is supported in part by Metro Nashville Arts Commission, TN Arts Commission, and the public. Source: Submitted [less-]

Stunning NASA visualizations, 6.5 million stars, and inner peace await at Yoga Under the Stars. While normal yoga practices focus on finding inner peace, Yoga Under the Stars brings an outward shift to the experience.  The stunning visuals displayed on Sudekum’s magnificent 63-foot dome inspire thought on the scale of the universe and humanity’s place within it. The darkness combined with a 360-degree view of the stars can disorient some viewers making achieving balance an even more challenging activity.  The added difficulty makes this yoga practice perfect for intermediate yogis looking for a new experience.

WEATHER UPDATE: The Farm is closed due to rain 4/20. We are sad to announce we are canceling today's activities and the Farm will be closed due to continued rain, cold and poor ground conditions. Unfortunately, "Spring Fest - Egg Hunts and More!" that was open to the public will not be rescheduled this year.

Each session will begin with breath work, continue with positions to elevate the heart, and end in savasana to relax the body and the mind. Don't forget to BYOM - Bring Your Own Mat!
